On my old iPad 2 I would have to force quit all of my apps and restart the device before using Glaze because of this. This used to cause crashes in older devices and maybe it still does. This app will, if you like, up size smaller photos to, I believe 16 megapixels. No other app that I've found on the App Store can convert a photo into a painting as well as this app. This is probably the only app that hasn't been updated in nearly half a decade that I would still recommend. It does work with the new iOS architecture though. It hasn't been updated with any new features or styles since. I wrote my first review for the sap four years ago. So it seems there’s no way to submit bug reports or usability suggestions or to get customer support. Something completely different is there now that has nothing to do with this app. But I’ve visited the developer URL several times since I discovered these issues, and their site seems to be gone. I wish these things could be fixed, as the filters themselves are quite interesting and can generate some unique effects that the other apps I use do differently. I usually import these images into other apps I use to continue working on them with layers, etc. And I’m going to have to give up hope of using the transparency feature I paid for, as it doesn’t function properly. Taking all this into consideration, I’m going to have to alter the way I use the app, since there’s no way I can spend 60x as long testing out various filter effects. This needs to be stated clearly, and truthfully, it should never be the default. As it turns out, the developer decided to insert the contents of that “message” box into the meta tags of your exported image. Each and every time you are forced to quit the app (for whatever reason), you have to re-select your desired export size (otherwise it will default to smaller than you might want) and also edit the “message” box that I originally thought was only applicable to social media posts. The app does NOT remember any of the settings you have chosen between sessions. The other bugs are slightly less annoying but still need to be fixed. This does not happen unless you’re using transparency mode, and it does not happen when the background color of the original import image is white. It literally takes 60x as long as it should to go through all of the filters. You have to continually quit the app and restart for every single filter you want to try. But once again, you run into the same problem immediately after exporting the first image. Then you can successfully preview and export your transparent image. The ONLY way I’ve been able to discover that “resets” this problem is to quit/exit the app entirely (using your finger to flick the window out of your dashboard tray on iPad Pro), then restart the app and try again with the next filter you wanted to select. Then, any other filter you try does exactly the same thing. But if you subsequently try to switch to a different filter, your entire image renders completely black, like a blank page. When you choose a filter effect, then choose transparency, you can preview and save out the resulting image just fine. I haven’t tried any other colored backgrounds yet, so it’s possible there are other occurrences of the same, or a similar, bug. The reason I say this is because when importing the exact same image, only with a white background, the problem does not occur. The most irritating bug appears to occur only when you are using transparency mode on an image that originally had a black background. But I’ve run across a few irritating bugs that seriously diminish the intended functionality of the software. I paid for all of the filter upgrades because they were attractive and useful effects to have. It would be ashamed to let this little jewel of an art app go by the wayside but unfortunately many other similar type of apps from the early days of the App Store, have as well. It’s not as good as the in app save function where you could select the size and resolution but at least it allow you to save till hopefully the developer updates the app, but don’t hold your breath since nothing been done with the app in quite a while! -) Simply do a screen save by pressing the power and home button simultaneously or whatever button replaces the home button for those devices that don’t have one. So until the developer updates, if ever, the app to correct the issue, I can’t recommend purchasing this app! Thus the one star rating!īut for those, like myself, who already own the app and like myself have bought many of the enhanced functions from within the app there is a workaround for the save function. But because of a user saving error, the app will no longer allow you to save your altered image back to photos in the customary way. As others have stated here, this was a great little app for customizing the look of your photos or images.
